Week No. 11: Lesson Plan

Lesson plan. Usually we hear this term from a teacher. Lesson Plan, lesson means topics to be tackled while plan means preparing for something. So, lesson plan is a preparation of a teacher for a particular topic maybe for a day or two.

Lessons are means of acquiring desirable habits, attitudes, and skills that will lead to the social and personal development of the individual. In lesson plan, educational development of the students depends on the selection of subject matter, activities, experiences, and methods adapted to his interests, needs, abilities, and level of maturity.

With lesson plan, the teacher can predict what is likely to happen during and after the lesson. Lesson plan also is a guide for practice teachers. Lesson plan help the teacher to systematic and orderly, since it is in an organize form. Lesson plan also limits the teacher on what is likely to teach, considering the time in one class.

Like unit plans, lesson plan has components also that ease the difficulty of teaching a lesson. These are; specific objectives of the lesson, subject matter, materials, procedure, assignment. In other lesson plans, value is included.

Lesson plan should not be too detailed. It should be planned within the time allotment for the subject. It may also serve as a basis for future plans and a means of evaluating the success of learning.

As first timer or even experienced teachers, we really can’t avoid errors in making our lesson plans. But through continuous practice and dedication for self-improvement, we can gradually master the system in making one.
